If you've seen any of our other recipes, you are probably starting to see a trend. We love fruit-based desserts! Pear Crumble is one of my personal favorites. There is something about the subtle sweetness of the pears, the crunch of the crumble... all smothered in whipped cream, it's truly delicious. Gather your ingredients and let's get to baking!

Recipe Ingredient Notes
- Flour - This recipe calls for all-purpose flour to make the crumble. If you prefer, you can substitute gluten-free flour at a 1:1 ratio.
- Brown sugar - A little brown sugar adds sweetness to the dish. Taste the pears first before adding the sugar. If they are very sweet, you can reduce this by half.
- Cinnamon - A dash of cinnamon is warm and inviting. You can add another spice, such as cloves, nutmeg, or allspice (or a combination), if you'd like.
- Pears - Ripe pears are best because they are the sweetest. You can also use slightly overripe pears. Peel and thinly slice.
Ways to Enjoy Every Bite
Top this baked pear crumble with home made or canned whipped cream or drizzle some caramel sauce or maple syrup. This recipe has no oats, but if you want to add quick oats, sprinkle some in with the crumb topping.
A scoop of vanilla ice cream adds the perfect combination to Pear Crumble. Serve it warm, or eat it cold-either way is equally delicious. During recipe testing we enjoyed it warm and fresh out of the oven, but had seconds cold. It was irresistible!
If you enjoy this, you'll also love how simple it is to make an easy apple cobbler with cake mix or a peach cobbler with cake mix and canned peaches for a similar, fruit-filled dessert.

Step 1: Preheat oven to 375ºF. In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Use a pastry blender or fork to cut in the softened butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Step 2: Peel and thinly slice the pears, about ¼-inch thick. Evenly layer them in the bottom of a baking pan.
Spoon the crumb mixture evenly over the pears.

Step 3: Bake at 375ºF for 30-35 minutes, until the pears are tender and the topping is golden brown.
Step 4: Serve warm with a drizzle of cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Why are My Pears Mushy?
This can happen when the dish is cooked too long since pears are already soft when they go into the oven.
